Canadian Foreign Minister Stéphane Dion in Sri Lanka tomorrow

Canadian Foreign Minister Stéphane Dion will arrive in Sri Lanka on an official visit tomorrow evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka said:
‘This bilateral official visit to Sri Lanka by a Foreign Minister of Canada takes place after 13 years, and within less than a year since the formation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Government.’
The Canadian Foreign Minister is due to hold bilateral discussions with Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, and will call on President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He will also meet with R. Sampanthan, the Leader of the Opposition and Mano Ganesan, the Minister of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages, in connection with support by Canada for the National Languages Equality Advancement Project (NLEAP).
The Canadian Foreign Minister is also due to travel to Jaffna, where he will meet the Governor of the Northern Province Reginald Cooray, Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran and members of civil society.
