Ronika Kalpage

Compassionate, eager, and adventurous, Ronika Kalpage is a 23 year-old who continues to give back to her community, advocate for education and social awareness, and celebrate the unique life experiences of others.

First and foremost, Ronika supports her Sri Lankan community and diversity among communities at large. She is honored and humbled to have represented the Sri Lanka community as the Sri Lanka Foundation Award recipient for Outstanding Achievement in 2005, Miss Teen Sri Lanka 2006, and a Sri Lankan Youth Organization volunteer in 2011.

During her undergraduate education, Ronika proudly united and lead Indian and Sri Lankan students as an officer of the Indian Student Organization. She also launched the University of California, Santa Cruz Chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Colleges Against Cancer and created the Relay For Life event at the university in 2009 to build a campus wide sense of unity towards health education and access to health resources. Currently, Ronika is a Student Pharmacist at the University of California, San Francisco and is particularly interested in pediatric inpatient clinical pharmacy.

Most recently, she is designing a Pediatric Antibiotic Dosing Chart to pilot on a trip with the UCSF Chapter of Global Brigades, a campus organization that travels throughout the year to extend healthcare services to developing countries abroad. Ronika also volunteers her time with the Mabuhay Health Center, PhAMLI Mentor Program for future pharmacy students, the Class of 2016 Social Committee, and the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, to name a few.

Aside from her passion for pharmacy, Ronika remains dedicated to her personal interests and wishes for society as a whole. From 2010-2011, Ronika served as a mentor for School on Wheels, an organization that provides one-on-one tutoring services to gifted and struggling homeless children across California. She is a strong believer that the education, values, and opportunities of today’s youth represent our future and she joined this program to thoroughly make a difference in one child’s life.

She also continues to dance and model in the San Francisco area and promotes healthy lifestyles through nutrition awareness and the practice of yoga and pilates. Lastly, Ronika would like to encourage everyone to follow his or her heart confidently as she has learned to. Don’t be afraid to take your unique path in life and make sure that along the way you touch the world in a way that only you know how to. We are our community. Stay active, promote understanding, and live a life to remember!
