Raja Edirisuriya

Raja Edirisuriya, at the age of 17, was one of the eight recipients of the American Field Service scholarships to come to the US and attend Highland Park High School in New Jersey. He then received his Bachelor’s and Masters degrees in Civil Engineering from the Rutgers University School of Engineering, and his MBA from the University of La Verne. As a professional engineer he has held the City Engineer position for 16 years with City of Chino, California. In early 2006, the President of Sri Lanka invited Raja to take on the Chairmanship of the then ailing construction giant, the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) of Sri Lanka. With an employee base of ten-thousand, the Corporation needed strong leadership, vision and courage to improve the State run ailing organization. Raja, with his sheer dedication and commitment along with the supporting staff, was able to resurrect this organization to a reasonable level within a short period of nine months.

Raja is also the President of Suriya Land Development Inc. The Corporation is planning and designing one hundred acres of land in the city of Victorville, California for residential and industrial use. He is also the CEO of KRMS Management, which operates and manages real estate properties in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. The portfolio includes a montessori school, two preschools and several single-family residential properties.

Raja is a philanthropist and his enduring work and efforts to help the Sri Lankan community in Los Angeles and improve the quality of life is worth mentioning. He was the President of the Vision Foundation, which gives elderly citizens in Sri Lanka the opportunity to receive free cataract surgeries, and also established the Edirisuriya Foundation to provide scholarships for the children of the SEC employees. Raja is also responsible for the Sri Lanka Tsunami Project, which built thirty-nine homes for tsunami survivors in the city of Induruwa in 2005.
