Mr. Al Kamalee Jabbar presently holding the post of Manager at the Health Care Agency, Orange County. He is the son of Sri Lankan Attorney-at-Law M.I.A Jabbar and Principal Ms. A.K. Jabbar who lived in Colombo. Mr. Jabbar is an old boy of Royal College, Colombo where he obtained his primary and High School education and was a very active student who played Basketball for the College. He migrated to the US in 1996 when he was 16 years old, and is now a naturalized citizen. He attended Cypress College and California State University – Fullerton to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing. He further educated himself to obtain a Masters Degree in Public Administration at California State University.
Writing lines about Mr. Jabbar is an effortless task; as he is a well know personality within our community as well as the outside world. Inside his community he has held and still holds positions as President of the Royal College OBA, and President of Sri Lanka Muslim Association of California. Al Kamalee supports many Sri Lankan American Community events in an on-going manner by volunteering his professional services such as being the Master of Ceremonies in many events. He throws in his opinions and ideas as and when needed in organizing large events. He is an active participant/MC at the Sri Lanka Independence Day celebrations, the Sri Lanka Day Expo celebrations, and Sri Lanka Foundation events. He is always willing to lend a helping hand at any given task. He was tirelessly involved in many fund raising events both in Sri Lanka and California, during the 2004 Tsunami that hit Sri Lanka and devastated the entire country.
Mr. Jabbar became the first Sri Lankan American to be appointed to a United States Public Office in 2013, when he became Trustee for Anaheim Union High School District. He went on to become the first Elected Sri Lankan American in 2014 competing with two other candidates and securing a four year term, and has since been elected the President of the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) Board of Trustees. His relentless drive as an advocate for student success has elevated him to serve in this position. He was also elected to represent the region as School Board Delegation to the California School Board Association by his Peers. His ability to make decisions collaboratively, progressive thinking skills and leading by example has resulted him to connect with students, educators, administrators, parents in and out of the school district community to benefit generations of students to be college and or career ready. Mr. Jabbar has distinguished himself by being the first Sri Lankan American to win the coveted National Local Campaign Manager of the Year Award for his role in a local City Council race. This award was presented to him by the American Association of Political Consultants. He has been very active in local campaigns volunteering for local congressional, assembly races as well as presidential campaigns. He has received endorsements from the State Superintendant of Public Instruction Mr. Tom Torlakson and US Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, State Senator Lou and Orange County Sheriff Ms. Sandra Hutchens, many locally elected leaders in Orange County and State of California.
Mr. Al Kamalee Jabbar lives in Anaheim with his beautiful wife Fathima Sammeeha and two children – Daughter Assiya and Son Arham.
