Kiara & Siara Gunawardhana

Misses. Kiara and Siara Gunawardhana are sisters aged 15 and 13 years. They are the loving daughters of Drs. Nalaka and Ayoma Gunawardhana of Irvine, California. Kiara and Siara were born and raised in California. Kiara is a Sophomore at University High School at Irvine and Siara is a 7th grader at South Lake Middle School in Irvine.

Kiara and Siara have worked deliberately on numerous projects to better both their American and Sri Lankan communities. They have volunteered for the Sri Lankan Consulate in Los Angeles, The Sri Lanka Foundation, Orange County Lions Club, and Girls Scouts International, to name a few of them. The Gunawardhana sisters have proven to be two of the most charitable and benevolent young girls. Throughout their young lives they have founded multiple projects to help those are in need of aid and assistance. This includes the Homeless Feeding Project for communities in need in Southern California, and the Backpack Project as a gesture of helping the war-zone affected school children in Sri Lanka. This donation project was founded in 2009 and has been continued to this day. At these backpack donations each student at the Sri Lankan school received a backpack along with a notebook, box of crayons, ruler, five pencils, and an eraser. These gestures were recognized and acknowledged by many organizations throughout Sri Lanka and the U.S.

Not only have these young ladies given their all to the community but Kiara and Siara have cultivated multiple talents from a young age. They both have exemplary academic records and have completed their Bharatanatyam Arangetram, a graduation from a style of classical South Indian dance. Kiara obtained her Associates Degree in the Study of Bharatanatyam from the Alagappa Performing Arts Academy in India in the year 2016.They have both received the Presidential Academic Excellence award in both Elementary and Middle School and continue to excel in their studies to this day. Both sisters have received their Bronze Awards from Girl Scouts of the USA and Kiara has completed her Silver Award and is now on her way to earning her Gold Award. Siara is now working on her Silver Award Project. Throughout the years Kiara and Siara have accepted many awards for showcasing merit in dance, piano, swimming and karate. Siara is the current ASB Secretary at South Lake Middle School. Both girls were the editor in chief of the South Lake yearbook. Kiara became a semi-finalist in the Orange County Youth Spelling Bee in the year of 2016. She has also obtained the Maxima Cum Laude award from the National Junior Classical League for her excellent work in studying the archaic language of Latin and both girls have an abundance of Community Service Appreciations in their name. This dyad has always shown a colossal commitment to preserving humanity across the world.



This duo has always put the needs of others before their own wants and wishes.
