Exceptional Performance Award presented to Janinda Gunawardena for her achievements as an outstanding Dancer. Debuting at the tender age of eight, she hosted the Christmas musical. She bid farewell to her Elementary school ‘Following the Yellow Brick Road’ and playing the role of Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz.” With the successful results from the STAR test in sixth grade she was invited by the school board to attend the well known “School of Dreams” Whitney High School. She was chosen as the speaker to represent the ABC Unified School District and competed against Los Angeles County schools where she won first place. She was invited by the City of Cerritos and Indian Cultural Association to perform a classical dance-In Search of Asoka and won first place. She is a part of the ambassador team at her school.
