Prof. Geethanga de Silva is PhD holder in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati with a focus on Medial devices and chemical sensor technologies. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Miami University. He is an Alumni of the University of Moratuwa. He was an ardent Rugby player and represented the University of Moratuwa and University of Cincinnati while at University. He is product of Royal College.
Prof. De Silva has won many awards in Technology Accelerator for Commercialization and Small Business Innovation. Prof. Geethanga founded Prometheus Sentech, LLC (dba Protech Sensors) for commercialization of a novel chemical senor platform. The patent-pending sensor technology developed during dissertation research at University of Cincinnati is considered a major breakthrough technology. The current focus of the company is detecting hazardous vapors in the industrial environments such as petroleum refineries and petrochemical plants.
Prof. Geethanga presently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife Dr. Amu de Silva and their little son Leonardo.
