Kumari Andarawewa was nominated by no less a person than the well known science fiction writer Sir Arthur C. Clark. Dr. Kumari Andarawewa is an outstanding young scientist with multiple qualifications and accomplishments to her credit. She obtained her first degree from the Peradeniya University in Veterinary Science and the Master’s degree in Space Science from International Space University and her PhD from University Louie Pasture, France. In the year 2000 the International University of France awarded her a scholarship for the Master of Space Studies program and she became the first Veterinarian in the world to be selected for this program. She is the recipient of ten Honors and Awards, has made twelve presentations, and ten publications among others.
In his glowing tribute to Kumari, Sir Arthur Clark has said thus: “I hope she will someday be able to continue her biomedical research work in outer space, fulfilling a life-long ambition”.
