Once again Sri Lanka Foundation Performing Arts Center showcased our beautiful island’s unique traditional drumming and dancing at the 12th Annual SASA Conference on March 24, at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, The audience was in awe to witness Kandyan dance to the intricate rhythm provided by the geta bera drums.
The annual event is held to focus on South Asia’s rich and diverse past, its bold and remarkable present, and its soaring prospects for the future. This year they had 18 Richly Diverse Panel Sessions, Speakers from Around the Globe, Regional Cuisine, film festival, Exemplar Awards Banquet and
unique exhibits.
The South Asian Studies Association (SASA) is an alliance of scholars, academicians, and business leaders dedicated to fostering greater understanding of the region’s global importance. This is accomplished via study of its history, cultures, religions, philosophies, governance, politics, economics, art, literature, and more.
