SLF & EDD JOIN HANDS TO PRESENT USEFUL INFORMATION To The COMMUNITY!

On February 4th, 2021 another extremely useful webinar was hosted by the Sri Lanka Foundation in collaboration with the State of California, Employment Development Department.

The Speakers were, Mr Ken Gomez, the Deputy Chief of the workforce, Alexis Carter, Workforce Employment Program Manager 111, Mariah Cantu-Nunez, Outreach Analyst Disability Insurance and Kathryn Morales, Outreach Analyst, Disability Insurance Branch.

The one and half our presentations consist of information from the Workforce Department, a list of employers currently hiring with website information to apply, how and who to contact if you were facing with unemployment claims and the upcoming new benefit amounts. The Disability Insurance Department also presented new programs that have been put in place due to COVID-19, and how and where to apply for those programs if you are effected by the Pandemic.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to U.S, H.E Ravinatha Ariyasinha, was one of the Special Guest, and he spoke about his new projects in U.S & Worldwide, as well as he thanked the Sri Lanka Foundation for their ongoing contribution to the community. The Mayor of Pasadena, Victor Gordo also applauded the Foundation for their dedication to serve the communities in Pasadena and in Los Angeles.

Dr Walter Jayasinghe, the Founder and Aeshea Jayasinghe, the Vice President of the Foundation also addressed the audience to share the new direction of SLF working with communities globally. Aeshea Jayasinghe also thanked the EDD speakers for their valuable contribution presented to the community.

Many questions were pouring in from the community prior to the webinar and the speakers answered all of them including the ones on the chatline.

The webinar concluded with a Vote of Thanks from the Foundation Vice President to everyone attending as well as to the Foundation staff and the speakers.
