President Sirisena felicitates Sri Lankan athletes who won at 2018 Commonwealth Games

President Maithripala Sirisena expressed appreciation and offered awards and gifts to the Sri Lankan men and women who performed well in commonwealth games at the Presidential Secretariat yon April 25, 2018.

Indika Dissanayake, won a silver medal in men’s weightlifting, J.A.C Lakmal won the bronze medal, B.D. Hansani Gomas and Anusha Kodithuwakku was awarded for carved the name winning an award in boxing for Sri Lanka and Thiwanka Ranasinghe and Ishan Seneviratne Bandara who won bronze medals were felicitated. The coaches who contributed were also appreciated.

The President was thankful for everyone for the glory brought to the Motherland by winning the highest number of awards in the Commonwealth games, in which Sri Lanka participated.

The President offered best wishes for their future sports activities and announced that he would ensure that they would get the highest cooperation for their future sports activities.

President Sirisena stated that sports helps to create a person with discipline and said that he would fulfill his responsibilities towards the promotion of sports in the journey to build a better society.

Minister Faizer Mustapha, Deputy Minister H.M.M. Harees, former Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Jayantha Wijeratne, Director General of Department of Sports, H.M.B.P. Herath, as well as sportsmen and women and sports council members were present at this event.
