Nandi Jasentuliyana is one of the well-known names in the Sri Lankan American community in the US. He is a Sri Lankan lawyer, was the Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, and the Deputy Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna. He was also the President of the International Institute of Space Law.
Nandi’s 85th birthday was a momentous occasion when all of his friends and family gathered at the Diamond Palace, Diamond Bar on November 26th to celebrate. The occasion was titled “Celebration of Life,” which was a testament to his successful and eventful journey that was delightful and memorable.
Nandi and his wife Shanthi have a gift for entertaining. The food, drinks, decorations, music, and dancing performed by Nandi’s niece Erangi and her daughter Dhilena completed a well-thought-out plan. One of the highlights of the evening was a unique birthday cake decorated with a space theme. Shanthi created the eye-catching cake and gave a touching speech, both of which were significant contributions to the Celebration of Life (Nandi). The guests also appreciated the heartwarming speech Nandi delivered in the Celebration of Life and the three beautiful songs that he sang with in-depth meaning.
Nandi’s close friends, whom he calls the “Local Amigos,” appreciated and recognized Nandi as an inspiration and a positive role model to the community. Many other guests also shared their gratitude and appreciation to Nandi for his mentorship and support.
The celebrations continued with music and dancing. To top off the celebrations the guests toasted to many more birthdays to come with Nandi.
