68th Sri Lankan Independence Day Celebration at Redondo Beach, CA

Sri Lanka Foundation together with The Consulate General’s Office of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles held the 68th Sri Lankan Independence Day in Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach, CA on Saturday, February 6. Over 1,200 Sri Lankan Americans from around the Los Angeles area gathered to meet and greet H.E. Prasad Kariyawasam, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the United States. Everyone enjoyed a complimentary Sri Lankan buffet. The official ceremony was graced by religious leaders, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka and the diplomatic corps. It was followed by the mesmerizing cultural show directed by the Sri Lanka Foundation Performing Arts Center in collaboration with local talent. The night included traditional and fusion dance items, mask dances, folk comedy items, folk songs and a symphony of percussion.

We would like to express our heartfelt thank you to our religious leaders, H.E. Prasad Kariyawasam, The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to United States and the diplomatic corps for spending their Saturday evening with us. A special thank you to all the associations and volunteers and guests who supported us to make this event a success. Last but not least we thank all the choreographers, performers and their parents for their time and effort spent to make this event a mesmerizing one.
