The ordination of Ven. Bhikkhuni Vimalanani, Ven. Bhikkhuni Kosala Vipassini, and Ven. Bhikkhuni Parayana Siri, who received bhikkhuni upasampada (full ordination) was held on March 17 at Dharma Vijaya Buddhist Vihara in Los Angeles, USA.
The Bhikkhuni Alliance noted that since December 2017, there have been three bhikkhuni ordinations in California, a significant sign of the growth and re-establishment of the bhikkhuni sangha.
These ordinations, by an act of the dual Theravada Sangha, were led by Ven. Pallawela Rahula Mahathera for the Bhikkhus and Ven. Tathaaloka Mahatheri for the Bhikkhunis.
