The UK has announced a significant increase in the number of Chevening Scholars from Sri Lanka, the British High Commissioner, Mr. James Dauris, announced at a reception to mark the departure of this year’s Chevening Scholars ahead of their travel to study at prestigious UK universities. The reception was attended by scholars, Chevening Alumni and other invited guests. The High Commissioner presented certificates to this year’s scholars to mark their selection for the Chevening program.
Chevening is the British Government’s most prestigious scholarship scheme for foreign post-graduate students. It aims to enable current and future leaders, decision makers and opinion formers to study in the UK and equip them to make a positive contribution to their own countries upon their return.
Established in 1983, Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s leading global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organizations. Courtesy of gov.uk
