Sri Lanka Janashakthi Insurance Plc is offering a million rupee prize for young developers who can come up with apps that help solve problems coming up from traffic congestion.
The ‘Janashakthi Full Option Appathon’ in collaboration with US tech company Google’s Google Developer Group (GDG) will see teams compete for the grand prize.
The initiative is aimed at “encouraging Sri Lankan youth to challenge their creativity and practical thinking skills, as well as use their skills in app development towards providing innovative solutions for issues faced by the general public,” the firm said.
To help the process, Janashakthi will conduct workshops led by technology experts to guide and mentor the participants.
“At Janashakthi, we believe innovation is the way forward and holds great potential to pave way to an extraordinary future,” Jude Fernando, Chief Executive Officer of Janashakthi Insurance Plc, said.
“We believe this platform will help empower the youth of our nation to discover the unlimited potential of merging their innovative and technological skills to offer solutions for the benefit of the general public.”
