Sri Lankan food festival in Kathmandu

Embassy of Sri Lanka, in partnership with Hotel Yak & Yeti and Qatar Airways, is set to host the Sri Lankan Food Festival in Nepal. The food festival will kick off from May 25 at the Sunrise Restaurant, Hotel Yak & Yeti, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu.

Through the festival, the embassy aims to introduce the Sri Lankan cuisine to Nepal, which comprises of various curry concoctions, seafood, and variety of dishes that are popular across the globe. The highlight of the festival is renowned Sri Lanka chef Dr. Publis Silva, of Mount Lavinia Hotel. Silva is set to collaborate with the executive chef of Hotel Yak & Yeti, Sagar Singh.

Addressing a press meet in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Silva said that being a Buddhist, he felt blessed to be in a holy place like Nepal, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The 83-years-old chef, who has spent 63 years in the trade, shared that the Sri Lankan food was different from other continental foods, including south Indian.
