Sri Lanka Tourism competed against 52 countries at one of the leading global travel fairs in Asia Pacific KOTFA that was staged in Seoul, South Korea and bagged the top award for “Best Tourism Publicity Award-2015”. Sri Lanka attracted over 714,585 visitors this year and Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Rohantha Athukorala stated that overall numbers are at a commanding 14.5% growth, with overall tourism receipts crossing the $1 billion dollar mark as per Central Bank Data.
The eye catching attraction was a beautiful Korean couple who wore the traditional Kandyan wedding dress. The Lankan pavilion also served the single origin Ceylon Tea from the tea garden of the world – Nuwara Eliya. Sri Lanka Tourism has won many accolades in the last four months that included ITB in Berlin, OTM in India and many awards in China.
