Sri Lanka to provide urgent drugs to Maldives

Republic of Maldives Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim who was in Sri Lanka to attend the 69th annual sessions of the South and East Asia Committee of the World Health Organisation held bilateral discussions with Health and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne at the Galle Face Hotel Colombo recently.
Attention was drawn towards the possibility of accommodating Maldivian medical students in medical faculties in Sri Lanka’s universities, providing training in Sri Lanka for Maldivian Health staff, providing urgent medical drugs needed by the Maldives and providing Sri Lankan know-how in setting up blood transfusion centres in the Maldives Minister Dr. Senaratne said.
The Maldivian Health Minister who noted Dr. Senaratne’s knowledge and attention towards combating non-communicable diseases also extended a special invitation to Dr. Senaratne to attend a seminar on noncommunicable diseases to be held in the Maldives as the chief guest.
