Sri Lanka Foundation Performing Arts Center at International Friendship Day

The church of Scientology in cooperation with the Way to Happiness Foundation organized an International Food & Friendship open house in celebration of International Friendship Day in Pasadena on Saturday, August 11th. The event featured The Way to Happiness, the common-sense moral code written by L. Ron Hubbard that contains precepts people of goodwill of any faith hold in common.

Sri Lanka Foundation Performing Arts Center was honored to be a part of this celebration and showcase our unique traditional dance styles. The audience was in awe to see the beauty of Sri Lanka. witness Kandyan dancing and the Dr. Nandi Jasentuliyana, Former Deputy General of the United Nations and Director, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs discussed the importance of peace and unity.

The International Day of Friendship was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011 in the belief that “friendship between peoples, countries, cultures, and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.”

The Way to Happiness Association, which provides a community betterment program based on the precepts of The Way to Happiness, helped organize and host the event. The initiative is predicated on the principle that one’s survival depends on the survival of others and that without the survival of others, neither joy nor happiness is attainable.
