Sri Lanka consulate in Cyprus

Sri Lanka will set up a consulate general office in Cyprus, to cater to the needs of 20,000 to 25,000 migrant workers, minister Gayantha Karunathilaka said on Wednesday.

The cabinet of ministers had approved a proposal by Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera to set up Consulate General Office in Nicosia, Cyprus.

It will promote trade, investment and educational opportunities.

Diplomatic relations were established in 1963, the ambassador to Rome is concurrently accredited to Cyprus.
