The Sri Lanka under 18 girls rugby team created history when they pulled off victories over Uzbekistan and UAE in their maiden outing at the Asian under 18 girls’ tournament in Dubai.
After losing their first four games to India (0-29), Kazakhstan (0-31), Hong Kong (0-24) and Uzbekistan (5-14), the Lankan girls roared back into form to beat the daylights of Uzbekistan 14-5 and UAE 19-5.
Participating after only two and a half weeks training the Lankan girls under coach and manager Tanjua Weerakkody and Sri Lanka rugby director coaching Inthi Marikkar finally struck it rich in their last two encounters for the day.
