As the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation evolves, Sri Lanka Foundation wants you to know that keeping you informed is an important priority for us. With that goal in mind, on July 25th, 2020 we hosted our second webinar by partnering with three exceptional medical professionals to address how the novel coronavirus is affecting all communities across the world.

The Panelist was selected from the states that were affected the most, from CALIFORNIA, Dr Deepthi Jayasekera, Infectious Disease Specialist, Clinical Professor, Western University, Chief of Infectious Disease, Emanate Health, from FLORIDA, Dr Dushyantha Jayaweera, Clinical Professor, University of Miami School of Medicine, Infectious Disease Specialist, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and from TEXAS, Dr Rasi Wickramasinghe, Assistant Professor of Cardiology, Houston Methodist Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical College, Translational & Clinical Research Interventional Cardiologist.

During this unprecedented time, the Ambassador, his excellency Rodney Perera who was our special guest said, countless people throughout our US have asked how they can help Sri Lanka Health staff and patients, and he was simply amazed of the outcome of the medical supplies and medical equipment that were donated by the government agencies as well as the organizations in our local community.

All three doctors addressed the international outbreak of COVID-19 poses a serious public health threat that has severely affected social, community, and business activities. With prolonged periods of social distancing, the coming of summer, and the need to engage in more social and commercial activities, everyone must consider how to continue to reduce risk. This webinar also addressed the current status of the pandemic in the U.S, factors to consider when deciding to participate in activities outside of the home, and special considerations for the upcoming re-opening of schools and other summer activities.

“It’s been said that your health is your most important asset, do all you can to prepare and protect it from this disease outbreak, and follow the guidelines of the CDC” said the doctors.

Words of appreciation and gratitude started pouring in for our “HEROES” shared below.

I am grateful to the Sri Lanka Foundation under the stewardship of Dr. Walter Jayasinghe for continuing to serve the Sri Lankan community in the United States. In this regard, the second webinar to present important new aspects of COVID 19 was quite informative and useful for the community. It is always greatly satisfying to listen to Sri Lankan professionals who continue to excel in their respective fields of expertise in the US. I once again, salute the service and achievements of Dr. Deepthi, Dr. Rasi and Dr. Dushyantha in the medical profession with their upbringing in our wonderful motherland.

Dear Doctors
Thank you for your courage and dedication to fighting back against COVID. Thank you for being selfless and risking your lives by putting others first. You guys have the eternal gratitude of so many people including me. Your hard work and efforts show that you front liners are the real superheroes of today! I have respect for you all and am always sending you my support throughout this ongoing battle. I am always thinking of every healthcare worker and wishing them safety and good health.

As a pre-med student I have had the opportunity to watch and work around many doctors, nurses, EMTs, and others working on the front line. You all have my utmost respect. Thank you so much for all of your sacrifice, dedication, hard work and compassion, especially during these challenging times. All though at times it may seem like your job is thankless, know that there are millions of Americans who could not be more proud and grateful of you. Keep up the good work and know that we have your back!

Dear Keshini
Thank you for a wonderful Webinar with the Sri Lankan expert specialists. It was detailed and full of exceptionally helpful data.
It would be helpful to have access to their slide presentations, if you could please request this on my behalf.

Best wishes

Hi Keshini,
That was a great event. I missed some of it at the start. Will the recording be available for those of us who may have missed some of it?
Thanks organizing it.

Mark Rasiah

Ananda

Hi Keshini
Thank you for your invaluable service during Covid 19.
Ranjini

Hi Keshini
Ananda and I both watched the Webinar with great interest, thanks to you and the panel of Specialists Doctors, not forgetting the team that put this Webinar together,it was brilliant.
A gentle reminder when you are free to ask the doctors if they would release their slides just to go through them again in depth for clarity and understanding, not for any other purpose.
Another question could you please ask Dr Deepthi Jayasekara the anti-oxidants he recommended especially the dosage and daily frequency?
Thanks Keshini
Best regards
Tessa
