With three changes, mainly due to injuries, Sri Lanka will be led by Danushka Ranjan at the Asian Sevens Series second leg which will be played in South Korea this weekend (24 & 25).
Kevin Dixon, Jason Dissanayake and Dinusha Chathuranga have been ruled out from this weekend’s decider with Srinath Soriyabandara, Richard Dharmapala and Kanchana Ramanayake coming in as replacements.
Dixon has suffered a knee injury while Dissanayake suffered a concussion during the Western Asian Tournament in the UAE turning out for Kandy SC.
Their replacements will be Sooriyabandara and Dharmapala.
Chathuranga has been ruled out due to his unimpressive performance at the first leg in Hong Kong two weeks ago and he has been replaced by Ramanayake.
Regular skipper Sudarshana Muthuthanthri, who suffered a wrist facture has not been passed fit for the second leg.
Sri Lanka lost to Hong Kong 17-22 in the final of the first leg which took place in Hong Kong on September 9 and 10.
Sri Lanka will compete in Pool ‘B’ with China, Singapore and Malaysia while Pool ‘A’ consists of Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Japan and host South Korea.
Sri Lanka’s first game will be against Singapore on Saturday (24) at 9.00am (SL Time).
They will play against Malaysia at 11.55am (SL Time) before ending the first day with the final pool game against China at 3.15pm (SL Time).
