Mayor de Blasio visited “New Asha” a popular Sri Lankan Restaurant in Staten Island to enjoy a plate of good old Sri Lankan rice and curry. He left the fork and spoon aside and decided to taste Sri Lankan food like Sri Lankan, with his hand. He even tried string hoppers. As a added treat he was able to try out various Sri Lankan sweetmeats like Kavum & Kokis.
New Asha is located in the predominantly Sri-Lankan neighborhood, Tomkinsville. It is a small eatery with simple decor, friendly service and delicious authentic dishes. Popular favorites include Vegetable Stuffed Roti, Fish Bun, Prawn Curry with String Hoppers and Vade.
