Mayor of New York City Bill de Blassio signed into law to name streets for slain NYPD Officers. “This is one of the many ways that we honor people who have done so much for the city, and there are many forms of sacrifice – none greater than when our men and women pay the ultimate price.” he stated. He co-named 48 streets under this new law. One of these officers were Kalyana Ranasinghe, a Sri Lankan American traffic enforcement agent who was struck by a truck while on duty about a year ago. His wife and daughter were invited to the special gathering organized by the city to rename the city streets.
