“My Universe” 11 year old Rusiru’s maiden book launched in Wales

11 year old Rusiru Kodithuwakku, has written and illustrated a 52-page book, titled “My Universe.” My Universe is a book based on Rusiru’s literary interpretations of the infinite universe. He is a student of Abernant Primary School and is love for writing began at the tender age of six.

The book was officially launched at a special ceremony at the Cynon Valley primary school. Forewords for the book is written by Abernant Primary School headteacher Julia Kucia, class teachers Sarah Furnival, Diane Davies and Dave Allen.

During the special launch event, Mrs Kucia applauded Rusiru’s commitment. “Over the last two years, we have all taken great pleasure in watching Rusiru develop his writing skills” she said. She went on to to say how teachers often brought his work down to the staffroom and argued  about who is going to read them first, because they are excellent. “His use and choice of vocabulary is precise.” she said.

Rusiru’s proud mother Sarasi, a physiotherapist also enjoys writing for a weekly science publication in Sri Lanka. “I started writing when I was a little girl of seven years of age, and carried on since, So I was dreaming that my children would be able to write. I encouraged Rusiru as much as possible.” she added.

A total of 20% of the book, which is priced £6.99, will be used to improve library facilities at Abernant Primary School.
