Japan and Sri Lanka to further enhance economic cooperation

Japan and Sri Lanka will hold the Consultation on National Development Cooperation and the Economic Policy Dialogue on 26th July 2016 at Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, Colombo, the Embassy of Japan said in a statement.
These two meetings will be held as a follow up to the visit to Japan by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in October 2015, during which Prime Minister Abe and Mr. Wickremesinghe agreed upon a ‘Comprehensive Partnership’ to further deepen bilateral cooperation. The meetings will focus on ways to assist Sri Lanka’s national development plan and to promote trade and investment between Japan and Sri Lanka.
Japan will be represented by Vice-Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Mr. Hirofumi Katase, Ambassador of Japan Mr. Kenichi Suganuma, and other senior officials of relevant Ministries at these meetings, while Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Mr. Malik Samarawickrama, and Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, will represent Sri Lanka. Secretaries and representatives from relevant Sri Lankan Ministries and institutions are also expected to participate.
