International Jewellery Fair Tokyo 2016 (IJT), one of the biggest exhibitions of its kind, which was launched on January 20, concluded on January 23 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight), Japan. This was the 27th such event and more than 1,200 exhibitors and 30,000 buyers visited the event. A wide variety of products in the jewellery industry were exhibited under one roof in the world trend-setting city, Tokyo.

Former director, Export Development Board Ashan Refai said that Sri Lanka had exported more than US$ 700 million worth of gems and jewellery in 2015 and there will be a further boost due to the increase of tourist arrivals into the country, which will directly benefit the gem and jewellery sector.
