The Colombo High Court acquitted General Sarath Fonseka of all charges in the harboring Army deserters case. High Court Judge Devika Tennakoon delivered the verdict last week.

The civic rights and army titles of Gen. Fonseka were also restored following a directive issued by the President last month. The Defence Ministry confirmed that Gen. Fonseka is entitled to his rank of Four Star General, medals, pension and other privileges which he was stripped of in 2010, by two Army tribunals before he was cashiered and imprisoned.
