Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, State Minister of Housing and Samurdhi Dilan Perera, State Minister of Public Administration & Democratic Governance C.B. Rathnayake and State Minister of Environment Pavithra Wanniarachchi resigned from their respective ministerial portfolios today.

SLFP Parliamentarian Dilan Perera stated that the main reason they decided to resign was that they want to unite with the SLFP together with President Sirisena & former president Mahinda Rajapaksa to build a better country. He went on to say that he is disappointed with Prime Minister Ranil Wickramsinghe’s handling of events. Parliamentarian Pavithra Wanniarachchi stated that they decided to give up their positions due to ideological differences in the party. She said that the SLFP members thought that the new government will work together for the betterment of the country but that day by day they are changing their viewpoints and will not tolerate it further.
