Dr. Lakshman Makandura is no stranger to Sri Lankan Americans in Los Angeles. He is currently preparing to enthrall an audience on June 8th, 2024 at 11455 Burbank Blvd, North Hollywood. He took time from his busy schedule to speak with SLF about his upcoming musical show.
Dr. Makandura said this is his first stage production, although he has had a passion for singing since his younger days, which was a big part of his life. He has always enjoyed singing at parties and family gatherings and felt happy when people appreciated his music. His main goal is to cherish the rich traditional Sinhala cultural music in the USA, and that’s one of the reasons he organized his musical show, which is free to the public.
He is a very well-known Physician in Los Angeles. He studied at Ananda College and attended medical school in Sri Lanka. Currently, he operates his medical practice, owns two large medical clinics, is the Medical Director of five medical facilities, and owns two medical cosmetic centers with his daughter Sarah.
He extended his deepest gratitude to his wife, Thusitha, and his daughter, Sarah, for their support and encouragement in pursuing singing, and lastly, to his friend Renuka Samath, for identifying his talent for singing.
