“Diganthaya” a Journey of Sri Lankan Music

Over 300 family and friends of Sumudu Ranawaka gathered at the Celebrity Center in Hollywood to enjoy a night of Sri Lankan music. He performed over 20 songs of artists from the 80’s.

“Sri Lankan music from the 80’s are songs that most Sri Lankans enjoy and reminiscent so I decided to sing a collection of them” said Sumudu when asked why he picked that era. “Songs of Amaradeva, Sunil Edirisinghe, Gunadasa Kapuge, Karunarathna Diulgala, MS Fernando, Clarence Wijewardena and Freddy Silva are tunes that we never forget” he went on to say.

Eight artists performed various duets with Sumudu. Sanath Jayasuriya played 6 drums. The audience enjoyed a night filled with comedy, happiness and sadness. Music was directed by Krishantha De Silva.

After the show everyone enjoyed a scrumptious dinner. Sumudu went on to say “I am glad everyone enjoyed the show, we practiced 2 hours a for 6 months. It turned out the be a wonderful show and I would like to thank everyone for their support”
