Organized by the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress and the Buddha Sasana Ministry for the 9th time, The Buddhist Literacy Festival was held at the Buddhist Congress Hall under the patronage of Venerable Dr. Ittepane Dhammalankara Thera. Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa was the Chief Guest of the ceremony.
Writers of the Buddhist Literary work, were presented with the awards at the ceremony. Professor M.M.J. Marasinghe received the Malalasekera Commemorative Award. Veteran Artist Piyarathna Hewabatage was awarded Solias Mendis Commemorative Award. Several Buddhist publications during the last year, also received awards.
