The Sinhalese Cultural Forum is hosted a Bridal Expo/ Fashion Show on Saturday the 17th of June at Castle Grand in Castle Hill, Australia. The event was organized to raise funds for Relay For Life project under the Cancer Council of NSW, which supports victims of cancer and their families. The event which was the first of its kind to be organized by the Forum was designed to showcase traditions that are associated with Sri Lankan weddings. It also provided a platform for leading artists in the bridal industry from bridal designers, cake artists, florists and decorators to highlight their products and services. Tapas style refreshments were served.

Over two hundred and fifty guests were given the opportunity to view Kandyan Nilame costumes, traditional jewelry, bridal sarees, poruwas, and other products that are required for a traditional Sri Lankan wedding. The highlight of the expo without a doubt was the runway fashion show which gave the audience a chance to view bridal fashions that are unique to Sri Lankan culture. While a handpicked selection of wedding vendors showcased their wares, leading poruwa designer Somaratne Uwage of Subhashini Poruwa designs transformed Castle Grand Hall to give guests the ambiance of a traditional wedding ceremony and Dinesh Perera provided the opening item with three drummers and two dancers.
