A pendant worn by a member of ‘Balangoda Man’of a hunting community that lived 6350 years ago has been excavated.
The pendant made out of the bones of an animal was discovered during an excavation carried out at the Alugallena, Arambehinna, Illukkumbura in Balangoda by a team headed by Senior Professor Raj Somadewa, of the Kelaniya University.
In addition to the pendant that has been made out of a shark’s tooth Prof. Somadeva and his team also discovered an ornament made out of the bones of an animal and a knife similar to a sickle, made out of a special glass stone.
