In response to our informational emails, we are happy to acknowledge the generous contributions of donors in our Southern California community. We thank all of you for responding to help those most in need.
The Clarendon Foundation donated large quantities of dry rations sufficient to last several weeks to hundreds of families in remote areas. Due to the continued curfew resulting in continued scarcity of funds and food, we have made additional distributions in large quantities to hundreds of families in several areas. Assistance in excess of $15,000 has been provided so far. We will continue to monitor conditions.
Food was distributed in successive distributions in the remote Gajabapura area and in the Jaffna peninsula with substantive dry ration packs with provisions to last several weeks.
Additional support was provided by funding distributions of over 400 packs of food in the outskirts of the Colombo area by collaborating with a local group and with a NGO in Sri Lanka. In addition, assistance was provided to a Home for differently abled children in Wellawaya, again assisting over a hundred children.
