In the coming days, temperatures in several districts across the island is expected to rise further.
Sri Lanka’s Meteorology Department issued an extreme heat advisory notice cautioning the public to take appropriate precautions to avoid any health-related issues caused by severe heat conditions.
This situation would prevail until the beginning of the south-west monsoon in May.
The Natural Hazards Early Warning Center forecasted “extreme caution” levels for most parts of the Northern, North Central and the North Western provinces.
