Dinuga de Silva, a five-year-old pre-school student from Sri Lanka, won first place at the World Food Day 2018 Global Poster Contest.
The poster contest is held annually by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to coincide with World Food Day on 16 October. Last year the contest, which was held under the theme ‘Our Actions are Our Future. A Zero Hunger World by 2030 is possible,’ received over 8,000 entries from 118 countries.
Dinuga de Silva who is a student of the Little Einsteins Montessori in Pelawatte, Battaramulla was placed first in the 5-8 years age category at the competition. The certificate and prize were presented to Dinuga by Nina Brandstrup, the FAO Representative to Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
