Yasodhara Pathanjali creates Sri Lanka’s largest hand painted mural

British Sri Lankan artist Yashodara Pathanjali created Sri Lanka’s largest hand painted mural in Colombo.The 17 feet wide 64ft long wall was covered with a colorful and bright mural that took 3 months to complete. When asked how much planning went into the creation of this colorful wall, Pathanjali informed that she did not plan at all, she sketched whole wall and picked the colors as she got to each part of the painting.

Yasodara Pathanjali is a self-taught artist, raised in London. Loves color, folk art of the world and saris. She became a full time artist 4 years ago. Her first project, as a full-time artist, was a children’s book Tikiri Baba, which was published by M D Gunasena. She has held solo exhibitions in London and Galle and has exhibited at the Colomboscope art festival, focusing on the environment and pollution. Her next exhibition is on wood and she is going into fabric designs.
