The President of the Sri lankan Tamil Association Mr. N. NANDAKUMARAN and his spouse JEGA were hosted to dinner by the CHIEF MINISTER OF NORTHERN PROVINCE HON. C.V. WIGNESWARAN at his official residence at Temple road NALLUR .JAFFNA , during their recent visit to Srilanka. The Chief Minister who is a Retired Judge of the Supreme Court of Srilanka , happens also to be a Lecturer to Mr. N. Nandakumaran whilst at Srilanka Law college where he graduated as an Attorney at Law. Both Mr. Wigneswaran’s family and Mr. Nandakumaran ‘s family have family ties lasting for more than fifty (50) years.

At their meeting several matters were discussed in general. Special emphasize was mainly on the Economic development. Projects such as Horticulture , Fishing , Handicrafts , Dairy farms and so on. The Chief Minister’s main goal was to get back the land to the refugees which was taken over by the earlier Government and to re settle the displaced people during the war and start a fresh their lives by offering financial support . He is interested in giving the displaced people an opportunity to make a living by starting small cottage industries and giving employment as well . If interested he is also considering giving self employment opportunities to the displaced people by financing a particular project of their choice to make a start.

However he requires financial support both from the Government and expatriates. He requested Mr. Nandakumaran to initiate a fund raiser for this purpose in Los Angeles and requested to encourage many immigrants to get back and serve the motherland using their vast experience, knowledge and know how in developing the dilapidated Northern province . He was very keen in skilled personnel such as Doctors, Teachers, I.T specialists and programmers to come over to Srilanka , educate and train the younger generation to be on their own feet to begin a career. The main concern the Minister had was to teach English to the displaced younger generation so that they could broaden their outlook in the world.

It was a wonderful and meaningful meeting that Mr .N. Nandakumaran had with the Chief minister and requesting expatriates in Los Angeles to give a helping hand both morally and financially to support these projects.
