Sri Lanka’s Hayleys buys Maldive island resort for US$23mn

Sri Lanka’s Hayleys group said it had bought an island resort in the Maldives for US$23 million which will complement its city hotels and resorts portfolio in Sri Lanka.
The acquisition was made by Hayleys subsidiary Luxury Resort (Pvt) Ltd., incorporated in the Maldives, a stock exchange filing said.
It bought Kudarah Island Resort Maldives located in South Ari Atoll which has 51 luxury villas close to the popular Kudarah Thila dive site.
The resort will be branded Amaya Kudarah Maldives and be under management of Amaya Leisure.
