Sri Lanka Embassy in Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotional Bureau in association with the Seoul Grand Park organized a Sri Lanka Cultural Evening including celebration of the Birthday of the two (02) Sri Lankan elephants donated to the Seoul Grand Park in 2010 by the Government of Sri Lanka on Saturday 11th June 2016 at the Seoul Grand Park.
The objective of the event was to share various aspects of Sri Lankan culture with Korean visitors to the Seoul Grand Park, including children.
The programme included Sri Lanka dancing performances, display of banners with Sri Lanka Tourism attractions, refreshments with Sri Lankan shorteats etc. In addition, the Seoul Grand Park also undertook a drawing competition of elephants by children from 10.00 am to 16.00 pm on the same day.
Manisha Gunasekera, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea in her remarks at the event stated that two Sri Lankan origin elephants at Seoul Grand Park represent the strong bonds of friendship between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea. Ambassador also invited Koreans to visit Sri Lanka to see more elephants, more wildlife like leopard, antelope, peacock, as well as many other attractions.
Song Chun-Hun, Head of the Seoul Grand Park, media personals and large number of visitors to the Seoul Grand Park attended the event.
