Premaya Nam enters Bengaluru International Film Festival

“Premaya Nam”, the directorial debut by brothers Kalpana Ariyawansa and Vindana Ariyawansa will compete in the Asian Competition section at 8th Bangaluru International Film Festival. “Premaya Nam” is the only Sri Lankan film to feature at the BIFF this year. So far “Premaya Nam” participated in Beijing International Film Festival (April), Shanghai International Film Festival (June), Jaffna International Cinema Festival (September), International Film Festival of Colombo (November), International Film Festival of India, Goa (November), International Film Festival of Kerala (December) and Delhi International Film Festival (December) last year. Based on a true story, “Premaya Nam” starring Shyam Fernando, Samanalee Fonseka, Suranga Ranawaka and Dr. Sathis Wijemanne, features an ensemble of cast frequently seen on contemporary theatre, television and cinema. Cinematographer Jaan Shenberger acted as the director of photography while Tapas Nayak and Andrew Scott Duncan did the sound design. Original score was composed by Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe and theme song was written by Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne. Daminda D. Madawala contributed as the assistant director while internationally acclaimed filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage acted as the executive producer. Consultant psychiatrist Dr. Kapila Ranasinghe was the advisory consultant for the movie. Brothers Kalpana and Vindana Ariyawansa wrote and directed “Premaya Nam” and is being produced by Kalpana Ariyawansa, Prem Dissanayake, Athula Mahawalage and Sujeewa Wijesinghe.
