Historical Buddhist Cultural Relations of Sri Lanka and China

A Conference themed on Historical Buddhist Cultural Relations of Sri Lanka and China was held on 17th June 2016 under the patronage of Hon. Gayantha Karunathilake M.P., Minister of Media and Parliamentary Affairs and, Madam Pang Chunxue, the Counselor of the embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations.
Most Ven. Dr. Ittapane Dhammalankara Thero – Mahanayake Thero of Kotte Sri Samagri Dhamma Sabhawa of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya, presented the five precepts to be observed by the laity at the conference, while Professor Bellanwila Wimalarathne Thero – Anunayake Thero of Kotte Sri Samagri Dhamma Sabhawa of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya and Ven.Balangoda Sobhitho Thero – Principal, Vidyodaya Pirivena made Anushashana to those present.
Dr.Praneeth Abayasundera – Hony. President of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress delivered the keynote lecture on ‘Historical Buddhist Cultural Relations between Sri Lanka and China’. Most Ven. Ming Sheng Thero – Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China and President of the Guangdong Province Buddhist Association also addressed the forum.
