CBK urges Fukuda to assist Sri Lanka’s economic development

A meeting was held between the Chairperson of Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR), Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and the Former Prime Minister of Japan Yasuo Fukuda, who is currently visiting Sri Lanka, today.
The strong bond and friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan was reiterated in the discussion.
Kumaratunga spoke about the commitment of the Government towards national unity and reconciliation while Fukuda expressed his pleasure in seeing Sri Lanka moving forward with peace and harmony.
He also invited Kumaratunge to visit Japan in near future. Kumaratunge invited Fukuda to facilitate bringing in Japanese investors to Sri Lanka to contribute towards economic development in Sri Lanka.
Yasuo Fukuda is the current chairman of Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Association and Boao Forum for Asia (BFA).
The Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka Kenichi Suganuma and Director of ONUR, Danesh Casie Chetty also participated in the discussion. (Colombo Gazette)
