Sri Lanka’s biggest and internationally renowned music duo, Batiya and Santush, together with the very talented Umaria and Randhir, backed by none other than Lunu Dehi, performed in Los Angeles on April 6th, 2024, organized by Hasanjith Kuruppuarachchige.

Bathiya and Santhush have been making music for decades and have gained recognition in the South Asian music scene for their unique fusion of traditional Sri Lankan music with modern genres.

When SLF spoke with Hasanjith, he mentioned that his history with Bathiya Jayakody goes back to 1996. He said, “I used to sing with Bathiya Aiya at Scout Camporees, and when I entered the music industry as a solo singer, my first performance was in front of Bathiya and Santhush. Since then, they have been my mentors.”

Hasanjith said he is very happy to say that every bit of the BNS Show was a success, from start to finish. He said he revolutionized the ticket-selling culture by creating his ticketing platform, SriNet.com. Every ticket was sold online, and he utilized a diverse team of members from America, Britain, and Colombia, creating a multicultural environment that greatly contributed to the event’s success. He also said that he delivered one of the best productions in the history of Sri Lankan events in the USA. The lighting setup included 42 moving heads and over 100 other lights, 3 massive LED screens, trussing, and a professional sound system. He also conducted a complete video production using 10 cameras, including the use of drones. He credited Phoenix Sounds and Lighting and MMC TV USA for their contributions.

Hasanjith’s next show in Los Angeles is WAYO Live on October 12th, 2024, which he is organizing for his School Alumni, Nalanda OBA USA. He also plans to showcase Marion’s Dinner Dance in Houston, Texas, in 2025. He believes in and works tirelessly to deliver outstanding musical shows that are worth the audience’s money.

Lastly, he mentioned, “Behind all of these achievements stands one person, my wife Gayesha Perera, who is also a former Miss Sri Lanka. She played a crucial role in helping me accomplish all of this, as we both strongly believe in prioritizing quality over quantity.”
