This satellite image shows the formation of a tropical cyclone heading towards the eastern parts of Sri Lanka late last evening. The Department of Meteorology issued a weather warning last evening to the Northern, Eastern, North-central and Uva provinces and the Hambantota district and urged the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
