1) We started these Covid 19 Fundraising Projects when Bhante Devananda received phone calls to help Srilanka rural areas with staple foods such as rice and lentils during this COVID-19 Pandemic. Villagers have difficulties to get rice and lentils due to government curfew. Indiana Buddhist Temple decided to support humanitarian services. We open drop off and donation centers in Srilanka to reach directly to low income seniors and families. Bhante Mahanama Nayaka Thero has distributed the rice or lentil bags in Matugama area. Bhante Aluthnuwara Anuruddha Nayaka Thero along with Monks of Kotte Rajamaha Vihara distribute the rice or lentil bags donation for Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte areas. Bhante Kokawala Kosala Thero from Sangkapala Raja Mahavihara has distributed the rice or lentil bags donation around Ratnapura area.

2) We collect donation in the USA to alleviate the suffering of Covid19. During the extended stay home orders, the number of homeless due to domestic violence has been significantly increased. The anxiety of uncertainties, job loss, reduce income and staying in the confined room for extended period of time main trigger the surge of homelessness in women and children. We welcome donation to collect dry food for Women and Children in the Homeless Shelter.

3) Covid19 Disposable Face Shields for First Responders & Medical Team Since March 8th 2020, Bhante Devananda has lead virtual meditation sessions and chanting on daily basis. These daily programs reached out to Nurses in Indiana and out of state in serendipitous ways. They have found meditation and chanting soothed their mind balancing with duty call and need to protect their families. In talking to them, they have expressed urgent needs for proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to protect them in their line of duty. Thus we open the third fundraising to donate face shields to Health Heroes. We have ordered the first batch and will donate to Parkview Hospital in Indiana. We will share pictures in our social media as soon as it becomes available.

We open a donation link with three options: Rice and Lentils for Rural Areas in Srilanka, Dry Food for Homeless in Indiana and PPE for Health Heroes. Please stay home every extend possible.
