Sri Lankan President attends 2016 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena participated as a special invitee in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting 2016, held Monday, September 19, at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel in New York.
This year’s theme of the CGI was “Beyond Equality: Harnessing the Power of Girls & Women for Sustainable Development”. Heads of 12 states participated in this meeting.
The inaugural address of the meeting was made by Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation. At this meeting Sri Lanka was commended for its contribution over the enhancement of global unity.
Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi and the Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Lõfven were among those participated in this meeting.
